Aura & Chakras

‘Prana’ or life force or vital energy that flows throughout our body in channels called ‘nadis’ meet at the nodal points in our body. These nodal points or the confluence of channels are called ‘Chakras’. These are the centers of whirling energy and play vital role in the proper functioning of the body.
Chakras‘Chakra’ is a Sanskrit term meaning “wheel,” and contextually refers to the spinning energy centers which exist in our subtle (non-physical) etheric body. Each chakra embodies the movement from one dimension to another.

There are several major and minor chakras in our body that control and affect the physical, psychological and spiritual conditions of a person. There are seven fundamental chakras in our body namely muladhara, which is located at the perineum, the space between the anal outlet and the genital organ; swadhisthana, which is just above the genital organ; manipuraka, which is just below the navel; anahata, which is just beneath where the rib cage meets; vishuddhi, which is at the pit of the throat; ajna, which is between the eyebrows; and sahasrara, also known as brahmarandra, which is at the top of the head, where when a child is born, there is a soft spot.

Each chakra is associated with a certain part of the body and has a specific quality and function. Additionally, every chakra corresponds to a specific aspect of human behavior and development. The lower chakras are associated with fundamental emotions and needs, for the energy here vibrates at a lower frequency and is therefore denser in nature. The finer energies of the upper chakras correspond to our higher mental and spiritual aspirations and faculties. Meditation helps in harmonizing denser lower energies with the lighter upper energies to attain the physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

If your energies are dominant in muladhara, then food and sleep will be the most dominant factors in your life. If your energies are dominant in swadhisthana, pleasures will be most dominant in your life – you seek pleasures, you enjoy the physical reality in so many ways. If your energies are dominant in manipuraka, you are a doer; you can do many things in the world. If your energies are dominant in anahata, you are a very creative person. If your energies are dominant in vishuddhi, you become very powerful. If your energies are dominant in agna or if you attain to ajna, then intellectually, you are realized.

Fundamentally, any spiritual path can be described as a journey from the muladhara to the sahasrar. This journey is an evolution from one dimension to another. Arhatic Yoga and meditation serves as a medium to accelerate this evolutionary process.

The flow of energy through our chakras determines our state of health and balance. Knowledge of our more subtle energy system empowers us to maintain balance and harmony on the physical, psychological and spiritual level. These chakras have an integral function of creating and maintaining the energetic balance in our body.
The average size of the chakras basically depends on the evolutionary development of a person. The bigger the size, the more intelligent, advanced and evolved the person.

“When quite undeveloped they appear as small circles about two inches in diameter, glowing dully in the ordinary man; but when awakened and vivified they are seen as blazing, coruscating whirlpools, much increased in size and resembling miniature suns.”- C. W. Leadbeater

In the continuous pursuit of spiritual and esoteric evolution, Master Choa Kok Sui has not restricted his assumption to only seven fundamental chakras. In one of his texts, he says:

“They have never mentioned that there are only seven chakras. The key word is only. The problem is that the students or readers assume that there are only seven chakras. This is an assumption without any basis… The student must remember that truth is dynamic, not static. This is the basis behind progress. One must be ready to discard lower truth for higher truth.”

Grand Master Choa Kok Sui through his books and teachings reveals the existence of eleven major chakras together with one more chakra; the 12th Chakra.aura-pic
In alternative medicine and complementary therapies including Pranic Healing these chakras are basically being treated to improve a wide range of physical and psychological ailments.

To know more about the chakras and their functions, you are encouraged to read a book by Grand Master Choa Kok Sui with the same title.
